Family

The second day at school and everyone already agrees, the camp-like environment has brought people together.  I had just come from being a counselor at a summer camp myself, and I feel as if I'd never left.  Each person has befriended at least one other person.  Most people have created the family they will have for a lifetime.  You can tell that friendships you make at Conserve will last.  It's plain to see the love for each other and the environment around us will only grow stronger throughout the semester.

Procession of Stars

The fire in the middle of the ring barely illuminated everyone's face, during our school opening ceremony.  The night was quiet, peaceful.  The sparks from the fire jumped into the sky.  I think they were trying to become the stars.  They leaped as high as they could, but it was just too impossible.  At that moment I could not stop smiling.  Every person here I felt I had known for years, though I may not have known all their names.  As we all filed out of the circle, we formed a line walking back.  Each with our own candle light we followed the path of tea candles lining the street.  The procession continued and went on as far as I could see.  To call it just lights would be too shallow a description for such a beautiful scene.  If only the sparks from the fire could see us, we had made the impossible possible. We were a procession of stars.
